 OUR CURRICULUM
Students learn to get comfortable singing, clapping, moving, and improvising in a piano or voice lesson. They learn to understand the structure of music, including chords, form, and improvisation. More intermediate students will start to learn to write their own melodies and songs, and begin working on technique, including scales, arpeggios, and transposition. Wolfgang Music Academy uses the FABER PIANO ADVENTURES series.

STUDENT & FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Students agree to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with their assignment books and a pencil.
To make good progress, daily quality practice is necessary. Depending on the age, 5-15 minutes a day is appropriate for beginners. For intermediate students, 20 - 30 minutes is ideal. For young musicians, weekly parent involvement and encouragement is crucial to their success and growth. The students whose parents are most involved show the most progress.

TERMS
Each term is 5 months. However, s
tudents can begin lessons any time of the year, even mid-term.
  • The Fall term runs September - January. The recital is in January.
  • The Spring term runs February - June.  The recital is in June.

SUMMER TERM
In the Summer, families can continue taking weekly lessons or choose another more flexible plan. If not continuing weekly over the summer, students can choose between several lesson packages. Lessons are scheduled based on your preferences and made to fit your schedule, to allow for vacations and time off.

INSTRUMENT REQUIREMENTS
Piano students must have a full-size (88-keys) acoustic or digital piano (keyboard) with pedal at home, in good working order. Touch sensitive is best.  If doing virtual lessons, the device camera needs to be aimed at the keyboard so the teacher can see the student's hands and piano.
Students need a quiet environment to learn.  If siblings or parents are present during lessons, they need to observe only and limit any distractions.

TUITION - $144/ month for each 5 month semester.
Tuition includes:
- 16 weekly meetings per semester.
- Registration fees
- Recital participation fees (non-refundable)

Monthly Payment Details:   The number of sessions for the entire term (16 lessons) are tallied and split it into 5 equal monthly payments, due by the 25th of the preceding month.  This monthly fee takes into account holidays and vacations.  No lessons will be held on most holidays, including Thanksgiving week, Christmas Break, and Spring Break. There is a 3 day grace period, and then a  $20 Late Fee will be applied to late accounts.

Tuition is non-refundable and can be paid by check, cash, credit card or transfer (Apple pay, Venmo, Zelle, CashApp).
Tuition does not include the cost of music. Students should expect to spend approximately $50 a year on repertoire.

Please Note: There are no reimbursements for missed lessons (cancelled by student) or missing the recital.  Makeups are available for qualified missed lessons, on a space-available basis, however they are not guaranteed.  In extenuating circumstances, a credit may be given for future lessons.

CANCELLATIONS/ MAKEUPS
  • Any lesson that WMA teacher cancels will be made up or a credit will be given.
  • WMA can accommodate up to 2 makeup lessons per term. If more than 2 lessons are cancelled per semester, makeups cannot be guaranteed, due to the teacher's full teaching schedule.
  • Each term, several days will be open in the schedule for you to use as “makeup days”.  These days will be posted at the beginning of each term, and students can reserve a space on a first-come first-serve basis.  This will allow students to catch up with missed lessons as they go along.
  • If cancellations are known in advance (travel or other obligation), the earlier notice is given, the more likely makeups can be scheduled.
  • If a lesson is cancelled, for any reason, with less than 12 hours notice, the lesson is considered a "NO SHOW" and forfeited. No Shows are not madeup. Emergencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Makeups must be scheduled in the term they were accrued, and will not be carried over into future terms.

CALLING PROCEDURE
  • Students will be contacted at their scheduled time.
  • We will try 3 times, and if there is no answer, we will send a text message through the REMIND app.
  • After 10 minutes, the class is considered a "No Show" and is forfeit.

STUDIO HOLIDAYS
Most studio breaks coincide with the school systems in this area. The schedule will be posted in  advance of each term.
Some holidays may be available for makeup lessons if the teacher is available.

If you need to miss a lesson for travel or other reason, please know there is no makeup guaranteed beyond the 2 makeup allowance. Monthly tuition is not adjusted during the term for travel or missed lessons.

RECITALS
All students are encouraged to perform at the recitals! Music does not need to be memorized.
Recitals are held at Ruggero Piano, 4720 Hargrove Rd #120, Raleigh, NC 27616.
Regardless of participation, all enrolled students will be charged recital participation and rental fees.

24-25 Recital dates:
January 21, 2025 @6:45pm
June 3, 2025 @6:45pm

COMMITMENT
When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire school year. If you would like to exit the program, one months notice in writing is required. This will allow time to fill your space.

PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE
From time to time photos and short videos of students are posted on this site or on Facebook and Instagram. These videos and posts are helpful to other teachers and help WMA gain new students. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or teaching page. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are not identified.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I understand that by enrolling and paying tuition for my child in Wolfgang Music Academy's studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the 2025 2026 academic year.
