☆☆☆☆☆☆ Requirements: ☆ WCC is for children ages 6 and older. ☆ Beginners are welcome! The only prerequisite is an enthusiasm for singing! ☺ ☆ We learn songs by rote, so reading fluency is not required. We provide lyrics to help learn songs more quickly. ☆ Participants do not need to be able to read music notation. ☆ Students need to be able to sit and focus on singing for 50 minutes.
What will my child learn? Through this lively and entertaining choral experience, students will learn:
the foundational skills of singing, blending, harmony, and tonal & rhythm development.
how to sing with confidence and enthusiasm, and enjoy the synthesis of music making, movement and instrument accompaniment.
to hone their skills and become confident and capable musicians and artists.
What will my child sing? WCC is not affiliated with any religious group or practices. We will explore current and past pop legends, folk music, traditional choral repertoire and cultural music. Particular care is taken to choose songs that children love, and can relate to in their lives.
Why choir? Choir is not only fun and musically stimulating, it builds a foundation of confidence, connection, and understanding in students that carries over into other seemingly unrelated areas of life. A priceless bond is created among performers and teacher, a bond that is long lasting, powerful, and even therapeutic.
